The tradition of stamp carving is very old in Nepal and they have traditionally been used for printing on fabric and paper. All prayer books are still produced today with hand-carved printing blocks.
The wood used is sourced from furniture makers, so it is leftover pieces that are further processed.
The stamp works best on a soft surface.
