American art, which first came into European focus by Abstract Expressionism, has never been a collecting area of the Hamburger Kunsthalle, and since nothing can be made up for in this sector meanwhile, it probably won't be either. We can therefore say that we are particularly fortunate to be able to include the magnificent works of Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art from the Onnasch Collection in Berlin as a long-term loan to our Galerie der Gegenwart. They fill the art-historical gap in a brilliant way.
