Description:
The stories ‘Von dem Fischer un syner Fru’ and ‘Von dem Machandelboom’ are among the most beautiful German fairy tales, whose plot and narrative style still fascinate today. Over 200 years ago, Philipp Otto Runge (1777-1810) first recorded the stories, which until then had only been passed down orally, years before the Brothers Grimm included them in their collection of children's and household tales. They can now be rediscovered in this lovingly designed artist's book.

The artist Nathalie David illustrates the fairy tales with collages of motifs by the artist Runge, fragments and details from his drawings, watercolours and playing card designs. The fairy tales can thus be experienced not only by reading but also by looking at them, making them ideal for reading aloud - either in Plattdüütsch or in the High German version opposite. The book is complemented by two CDs (audio book and radio play in High German), on which the fairy tales come to life with music by Vladyslav Sendecki, singing by Ursula Wittich and the voices of Hildegard Schmahl, Patrycia Ziolkowska, Werner Grassmann and Hermann Book. This multi-media artist's book offers a rich selection to look at, read to yourself, read aloud and listen to.

The artist Nathalie David, born in France, studied fine arts in Nice, Hamburg and Paris. She is a filmmaker, illustrator and photographer and realises artistic documentary films about personalities from the art world.
