An exhibition about exhibitions
This exhibition is dedicated to the legendary series *Art Around 1800*, which was shown at the Hamburger Kunsthalle from 1974 to 1980. Across ten sections, the current presentation, featuring works displayed at the time, unfolds a panorama of the era. The exhibition about exhibitions also highlights gaps in the historical series and broadens the perspective on the age of revolutions through selected contemporary works. The complex structure in the Kuppelsaal is conceived as a critical edition of the exhibitions of the 1970s and simultaneously undertakes a remix of the artistic forms and formats around 1800. The spaces designed by the artist Marten Schech and the curatorial concept of the exhibition are documented in this publication.
