Material, Body, and Space: Sculptural
Thursday, July 9, 7–8 p.m., Hamburger Kunsthalle
With Anna Bochkova
Together with sculptor Anna Bochkova, we will explore the exhibition SKULPTURAL and trace the development of sculpture from the early 20th century to the present. Using selected works by Constantin Brâncuși, Marcel Duchamp, Laure Prouvost, and other artists, we will discuss central questions of sculpture: What defines a sculpture? How is our understanding of material, the body, and space changing? And what forms can sculpture take today?
From the perspective of a contemporary artist, Anna Bochkova offers insights into her own practice and invites us to join her in a conversation about historical approaches and current developments in sculpture.
